I know that most of the people who experienced Rurik's death were very glad that the whiny pariah was finally gone. Me included, lol.

Mindless death match or Intergrate Story with great groups and tons of items and great storyline. I wonder what will be more popular
GW PvP is far from mindless, and not even deathmatch style half the time. What's mindless are PvE mobs that cast through Backfire, attack through Empathy, cast spells while Arcane Conundrumed. Generally, good PvPers work around these things, remove hexes, etc. Mobs aren't nearly as responsive or tactical.

'Business' is not -just- the PvE side of the game. The game also features a high emphasis on PvP (perhaps even moreso than PvE, but I won't outright say that, lest hell be raised). Remember that a major part of the advertising campaign for Guild Wars was that it would be a great PvP environment, not Everquest with no monthly fee. (Even though I enjoy the PvE immensely, it is relatively short and can be grating if you're repeating it with several characters)

That said, I look forward to both a PvP update that will allow me to unlock skills and items without playing through the same content repetitively, as well as challenging new PvE content for both myself and other PvErs I will inevitably group with. Cheers, all.

The thing that stikes me as wierd is pvper's complaining about haveing to play the same content a lot, but all they do is play in the same arena time after time after time. Thats a LOT more boreing and a grind that playing in the several different areas that we have in pve.

Aslo with all the pvpers unlocking items dureing pvp. This will bascily kill the market for pretty much everything. Maybe this is anets idea to stop farming, but I can't I say I like it very much

PvP'ers play for X time, unlock Y items/skills
or, alternatively,
PvP'ers are forced to farm for X time, unlock Y items/skills

The difference is where now?

Kill the market? You mean that un-identified superior runes won't be worth as much?

And prices across the board may drop, because all of us PvPers won't be farming more gold to buy them?

That's about the only impact I see this change having on the market. I don't see how it'll really impact PvE players at all. Unless you were farming for runes to sell to PvPers.

A little something that Alex Weekes from ANet posted on another forum:

"I'm really looking forward to this update. And the guilds in alpha are very excited about it as well, providing lots of feedback on the system.

I'd just like to confirm/clarify some of the things raised here:

1. Monks will *not* be disadvantaged by this system. They'll receive the same rewards that all other members of the team receive.

2. The system provides the opportunity for a player to unlock something. The system does not choose for you - the choice belongs to the player.

3. Players can earn the bonuses via post-Ascension PvP of all types - Arena, Tombs, Guild-vs-Guild.

4. You can earn the rewards with any character on your account (doesn't matter whether it is a RP character or PvP character), and progress is account based (so you can delete PvP characters without losing anything)."

Looks like this will bring some life back into the deceased arena PvP. Who knows, we might even start getting a challenge in the arenas instead of going 50 straight then quitting cause it's 1:00 am.

at least wait to judge the update until you actaully HAVE the update? perhaps?

non of us (well, some do, but there not telling!) have any real idea how it will work, what it will do, and how you will be rewarded.

you people have already setup the noose, but the guy hasnt even arived yet!

if the new PvE type stuff is the new areas. I feel sorry for those on dial up LOL

Spike drop it, all your posts about UAS sucked, as does this one. We "complain" because IN OUR OPINION(<-yea we have that and it's different then yours) killing bots over and over is BORING AS SHIT. PvP strategy and opponents are always changing, whereas mobs are either of the Stupid or More Stupid variety. PvE is time consuming, not hard...when will you understand that.

Aslo the farming is pretty much stopped already, they made sure of that in the last 2 patches. But yea...where do you think all those Runes at the Rune Trader came from? I'll tell you what... i'm sure a majority of them are from "PvPers" farming for unlocks.

GJ, A.net. Nice change.

the PvEers should be happy (if not, they should be shot, cause this concept owns) and the PvPers should be happy (also should be shot if they aren't. I mean.. yeah...)
One of the first benefits I can see for PvE to this addition is that the pure PvP players who only go to PvE for unlocking, and who understandably like to hurry though and get it over with as quickly as possible, or who just go into missions to cap skills and then drop, will no longer need to PvE anymore.

This means that the PvE environment as a whole will improve, as the ones who actually like to play PvE will continue, while the ones who just see it as a means to an end will no longer participate. If implemented well, this patch could have widespread positive effects on the overall PvE vibe and player environment.

And if it works, maybe Anet will boost the item and gold drops back to a more reasonable level afterwards. Hopefully the new PvE areas patch will introduce some PvE specific enhancements as well.
